Kissey Asplund - Silverlake

Silverlake

Since the release of her debut album "Plethora" Kissey Asplund has been rocking shows, turning heads and winning hearts and minds while touring the U.S. & Europe, including opening up for Dizzy Rascal in New York…and the momentum keeps building as Nike have now selected Kissey to represent for their AM90 launch.

The result is this limited edition 12" single which features the production skills of hotly tipped rising producer Dorian Concept and artwork of the highly acclaimed graphic artist Piet Parra.

"Silverlake" is a haunting meditation on the inspirational powers of an unspecified lake, with a wonderfully poignant and emotive production from Doiran Concept and Kissey’s thoughtful floating lyrics taking you to a place far away, or maybe somewhere deep inside.

"Snowfall" carries on the theme of introspection and soul searching with another warped soul beat from Dorian and dreamy Kissey Vocal.

Rhythm Of Elements - Guitar Suite

Guitar Suite

Once again Rhythm Of Elements (ROE) return with their second release on R2, the tremendous ñGuitar Suiteî. This track continues with their trademark combination of deep club grooves and great live musicianship as guitarist Hideki Ikeuchi glides over DJ UchikawaÍs driving beats while Makoto Kuriya adds his inimitable keyboard.

In addition to the smooth main mix, Rhythm Of Elements also provide a classic electronic dub for the deeper dance floors, getting techie while firmly rooted in the disco-soul heritage.

As if that wasnÍt enough, this 12î is completed with an incredible cover version of Grover Washington JrÍs ñMr. Magicî with ROE updating this classic to a mid-tempo soulful jazz burner.

Dj Uchikawa has been a pioneer in Japanese dance culture for decades, and is known for representing quality dance music from the classic boogie era to present day deep house scene. He owns The Loft Club in Nagoya, Japan.

Internationally renowned Makato Kuriya has played with some of the finest jazz musicians of the last century including Nathan Davis, Chuck Mangione, Billy Cobham, Donald Byrd to name a few. He has recorded numerous albums and performed worldwide.

They decided to unite jazz with the electro dance music, and soon after Rhythm Of Elements were created...

They are currently recording a full album due for release in 2008.

Kissey Asplund - Plethora

Plethora

Plethora is the debut album from Swedish soul sensation Kissey Asplund. The album was entirely produced by Paris based hip-hop collective Papa Jazz Crew, and is a unique combination of future electronic soul beats and sweet jazz vocals.

Kissey began collaborating with various producers she met via ÔmyspaceÕ, bringing her silky sweet vocals to a variety of hip-hop and soul beats. However, it was when she hooked up with Papa Jazz that something clicked. They quickly recognized she had a style all her own and before long they were crafting what they called ÒKissey beatsÓ especially for her.

The resulting album is a genre defying journey through jazz, hip-hop, electronic soul, all with a fresh future twist. Kissey takes us through a range of day to day stories of love lost and found, friendships betrayed, relationships on the rocks and even astral travelling..

Kissey Asplund features Nike's AM90 podcast!

AM90 Presents Kissey Asplund in Stockholm

When the Air Max launched in 1987, it was a revolution. It became an instant classic, on and off the track.

Three years later this legacy led to the Air Max 90, which took its original concept literally to the max. The frame around the air was designed to add support but was brightly coloured to bring even more attention to the radical design of visible air. You couldn't miss it.

Over time, the Air Max 90 evolved from a lightweight running shoe into original expressions of style on different playgrounds, at different latitudes. It was an energy that couldn't have been predicted. The Air Max 90 eventually became an icon adapted by athletes, performers and artists.

The AM90 Sound is the documentary of this journey, a tribute to a true icon. Legendary photographer Shawn Mortensen traveled across Europe, intercepting (or following) the frequencies of eight young music talents who share the Air Max 90 attitude in a genuine and personal way. From Paris (Sefyu) to Berlin (F.R. + Rampa), from Rome (Rodion) to Stockholm (Kissey Asplund), London (Maniac), Barcelona (Golden Bug), Amsterdam (Shinedoe), up to Moscow (Mujuice): each city with a different style, voice and landscape: Each artist a different soundtrack.

In this AM90 Presents, Swedish signer and musician Kissey Asplund takes us on an audio tour of Stockholm, where we hear from collaborators, friends and even hear from Kissey’s dad! Kissey fills us in on the experimental vibe to her vocals and the motivations behind the ethereal musical collage of Neo Soul, Abstract Broken Beat, Jazz and Deep House that makes up the Kissey style. Plus, we get a guided tour around her bedroom studio and all the kit she used to build her AM90 dedicated track, ‘Silverlake’. Legendary portrait photographer, Shawn Mortensen was on hand to document the process in celluloid and presents his experience of the artist and the city from behind the lens in his 'Snapshot' feature.
