Whether you’re retiring your acoustic guitar or simply planning to move on to a different type of sound there are many things to consider when purchasing your first electric guitar. If you’re looking for the finest quality without spending the type of money that only established rock stars can afford, consider the Epiphone Les Paul Standard as your first electric guitar.

The first step to getting an electric guitar that you’ll be happy with is to really listen to how well the guitar resonates, even without an amp attached to it. This depends very much on the type of wood that the guitar is made from. Also, you’ll need to check how long the resonance is sustained for, something else that depends very much on the wood of the guitar, particularly in its neck, and how the neck is installed.

Expensive doesn’t necessarily mean better when it comes to electric guitars. You’ll be better off taking the time to find a guitar with good resonance that fits you size wise, electric guitars like most other things in the world today are definitely not one size fits all. Do your research before you start off on your buying spree, also consider looking at some used guitars to start in order to get a feel for whether or not an electric guitar is really the route you want to take in your musical career.

Set a budget for the whole package, remember that with an electric guitar you’ll also need pedals, and amplifier, strings, pickups and then probably more pedals and a bigger amp. No matter how much you spend on any instrument, if you’re not a good player the only thing that will fix that is practice, practice, practice so don’t forget to bring home some earplugs for Mum and Dad as well as some for the neighbors as well if the folks would like to stay on good terms with them.

Choosing your first guitar is never an easy decision and today there are so good guitars on the market that you’ll really want to narrow down your decisions. You can’t go wrong with the Epiphone Les Paul Standard electric guitar as your first guitar choice, while an acoustic guitar may be cheaper for learners initially, the tone of an electric guitar will have Dad out playing in the garage with the guys the next time they gather for a serious jam session.

An acoustic guitar is the mental image that most people get when they first begin thinking about buying a guitar. This is a hollow instrument, with six strings of either nylon or metal that comes in two varieties, a standard acoustic and a classical acoustic. Both instruments share the same basic look, a classical acoustic has the same six strings as a standard, but three strings are usually nylon, and the neck of a classical guitar is generally broader than that of a standard.

An electric guitar comes with a great deal more bells and whistles than a standard acoustic. Most of the electric guitars you can get today are not hollow, with the result that when the cords are strummed or plucked, they produce a very quiet sound. For an electric guitar to really give you its full value, you’ll need to purchase an amplifier with it. Electric guitars also often feature a great deal more buttons and knobs to push to vary the sound being produced by the guitar, with the end result that they can be more confusing for a beginner to learn.

Chances are that starting your budding rock star out with a regular guitar will give them the opportunity to learn how to chord well, and distinguish how the instrument itself should sound, then moving into an electric guitar will allow their talent to really develop.

You’ve aced every move in Guitar Hero and now you feel you’re ready to move on to the real thing. For your first guitar you can’t go wrong picking up an Epiphone Les Paul Standard to practice your moves with.

Let’s take a look at some of the most common types of Rock and Roll bands around today and you can decide how many others you’ll need to make your brand-new band the best and baddest around.

1. Two part rock groups a relatively rare, simply because it is hard to make all the sounds that rock and roll requires with only two people. Unless you’re planning on playing all the instruments yourself or playing your instrument multiple times and recording several tracks of the same song, you might want to consider inviting some additional members to join you.

2. A three person rock band is starting to head in the right direction and you can get some good sounds with only three players. Nirvana and the Bee Gees are a couple of examples of groups who have made it with three members.

3. You’ll start to run out of breath if you try to list all the famous rock and roll groups who made it with four players. The Beatles are arguably the most famous rock band ever, and if you can manage to find a left-handed player, it really helps how you look on stage.

4. Bands with five or more people. While many of the most popular groups had only four members, the most common number for players in a rock band is five or more. From the Beach Boys to the Rolling Stones, the list of groups who were a success with five members seems endless.

You can see it now that squalling little bundle of joy in the blue blanket is going to be a rock star some day, he’s certainly got the lungs for it, after all. If you want your son, or daughter, no sexism here, to succeed in the music industry, you’ll want to start them off on the right track with a reasonably priced electric guitar that remains true to its heritage, the Epiphone Les Paul Standard.

Most kids start begging for a guitar at about age 10 so just imagine the joy in your son or daughter’s eyes when you pull out the guitar that you wisely purchased in advance, just waiting for this day. Electric guitars use the principle of electromagnetic induction to turn the vibrating of its metal strings into electric signals. This generated sound is too weak to drive a loudspeaker which explains why any electric guitar that you see will come with an amplifier attached. The addition of electronic circuits to the guitar changes the basic sounds being made and also adds interest to the music being produced.

Originally developed by jazz musicians as a means to amplify their playing, over time electric guitars have become the classic instruments of today, being a staple of any rock and roll band as well as an important component of a wide variety of other musical styles.

A solid body guitar like the Epiphone Les Paul Standard has no hollow internal cavity to accommodate vibration and also no sound holes like those found in acoustic guitars. The majority of solid body guitars are made from hardwood with a lacquer coating.

As soon as you pick up the Epiphone Les Paul Standard, you know you’ve got an amazing guitar in your hands. Les Paul is often called the father of the Electric Guitar, and his very first one, called “The Log”, was built after hours in the Epiphone factory.

As a child Les Paul took up music at the age of eight when he discovered the harmonica. A failed attempt at learning to play the banjo led him to the guitar and he was able to combine his two passions, playing the harmonica and the guitar with the invention of a neck mounted harmonica holder, which design is still in common use today.

By the age of 17 Les Paul had dropped out of school and moved to Chicago where he pursued a career playing with a radio band. As his working career progressed, he moved into jazz music and became increasing dissatisfied with the sound produced by standard acoustic guitars of the time. A move to New York was followed by experimentation with a variety of formats for a guitar of his own. Initially, “The Log” started life as little more than a length of 4 x 4 lumber with the required accessories to make it into a guitar attached. To make things look good, Les Paul attached a hollow body Epiphone guitar over top of The Log. He discovered that the solid body of The Log, which was actually producing the music solved the dual problems of feedback and maintaining a sustained sound so after many years of improvement, Les Paul’s signature guitar style was born.

Your band has a big gig next month and you all want the sound to be just right. If you’re in the market for a new electric guitar, the Epiphone Les Paul Standard is going to be your best choice for great sound at an amazing price.

Les Paul is often hailed as the father of the electric guitar. He pioneered the solid-body electric guitar, creating a sound that turned rock and roll into an overnight sensation. His innovative first guitar, known as “the Log” was created after hours in the Epiphone guitar factory in 1940.

The list of famous recording stars who use his signature guitar – a Gibson Les Paul, is very impressive. A Gibson Les Paul guitar however, is going to cost you a substantial amount of money, while the Epiphone Les Paul Standard will cost you far less without requiring you to sacrifice the incredible depth of tone that makes playing a Les Paul so satisfying. Epiphone is, in fact a subsidiary of Gibson, so you can be sure that the same attention to detail has gone into making their version of the Les Paul electric guitar without sacrificing the master’s exacting standards.

With its solid mahogany or alder body, and impressive array of standard features that complete the package, this guitar is considered by those in the know to be the best Les Paul model currently made by Epiphone. Get yourself an Epiphone Les Paul Standard guitar today, and be ready to wow the crowd at that important gig.
